Dr Vanessa Fludder, our SETSA president until 2026, is a consultant anaesthetist based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. Her clinical work focuses on Vascular anaesthesia and peri-operative medicine. She has an interest in peri-operative echocardiography, and is co-founder of the Bedside Echo for Anaesthetists Training (BEAT) course. She is a member of the Sussex Peri-operative Research team and is working on the role of POC platelet function testing in peri-operative decision making.

My subspeciality interests are paediatrics, regional and complex airway management. I’m passionate about education and helping anaesthetic residents increase exposure to regional anaesthesia and excel through the FRCA. Outside of work I’m most likely to be found trying to beat my Garmin stats on the bike or working my way up the Zwift league tables. I’m excited to be representing Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust at SETSA and showcasing the amazing work being done here.
